What exactly do you like about XP over Windows 7?

Windows 7 is faster, more efficient, more stable, more supported.

As for Windows 7 not lasting long, it's lasted long enough, it's being around a fair few years now, Windows XP was abnormally long in terms of a Microsoft operating system lifespan.

As far 7's "heavy resource demand", well, Windows 7 is not heavy on resources to be honest, and unless you're using 64bit Windows XP, you won't even use all of 4gb of that.

Windows Xp is just easier to use, I build allot of computers for clients and 80% want me to install Windows XP on them.. XP Is faster and lighter than windows 7, you know that Windows 7 is just Vista with eye candy right ?Windows 7 is not more stable than XP... More supported, Yea !!! because they will be fading it out..
LIFE SPAN , You think Windows 7 will have a life span as long as XP has had ???? Windows 8 is all ready out, RESOURCES, Windows 7 takes allot more ram just to push it, between 2 to 4 gigs to make it happy... Check your hard drive space, and check the difference between the two..and in closing I also said it is just a matter of what one prefers..In other wards it is just my opinion....

I think your information is flawed, Windows 8 is not already out, it is a leaked pre-beta......

No, Microsoft do not want Windows 7 to have a lifecycle as long as Windows XP, they want to make money and also develop their software. Windows XP had an abnormally long lifecycle, as I said in my last post.

Windows 7 is not just Vista with eye candy, Vista had eye candy, that's complete rubbish, Windows 7 uses less memory, in fact, on my system Windows 7 uses the same amount of memory on fresh install as Windows XP did.

Windows XP is slower, after time the operating system slows down, the likelihood of a BSOD is higher in Windows XP, Windows 7 is rock solid never really slows down. In fact, due to superfetch Windows 7 should get faster over time.

I don't think HDD space matters to be honest, disk space is very cheap to buy, if you're building a computer for a client, you'd not be sticking an 80gb HDD in, more likely a 320gb or higher.

I think 80% of your clients want you to install Windows XP because they're computer novices, uneducated, some may have not heard of Windows 7, some may be scared of "change", Windows 7 is easily more usable than Windows XP.

It's fair play when people talk about Windows Vista vs XP and why they want to stick with XP, I went back and forth between those myself as settled with Windows XP until Windows 7 came out, but when that happened, I could find no logical reason to stick with Windows XP, it is understandable for companies, when they want to upgrade all of their computers they have to buy a volume license and the cost can be very high, some companies cannot afford this so it's their only choice to stick with Windows XP.

You are right Windows 8 is not out yet to YOU !!! I have had it now for Months... Windows 7 is built from a Vista platform...Windows Xp will run happy on 1 gig of ram when you will need at least 2 gigs to run windows 7 to make it happy... But that is 32 bit only, 64 bit is another story.. I have built hundreds of computers ,and I put in the hard drive the customer asks for, What ever they ask for a 80 gb or a 1 TB, it is no matter.. Dude , I have windows 7 in 4 of my computers and windows XP in the other 6. So Like I said before IT is just a matter of CHOICE...

No, Windows 8 is not out to you, you've being running a developer preview, I've had it for months also. Windows 7 runs happy on 1GB of ram.

From the out side, the all new Windows 7 closely resembles its predecessor Windows Vista. The major change that you will be able to see at first, in terms of UI, is the new taskbar also known as superbar, which now sports a battery of features. Learn in http://www.techyv.com/article/windows-7-vs-windows-vista .Windows 7 is much faster, safer and better than any OS out there including its predecessor Vista.
